A SMALL PRACTICE FOR TODAY
One deck. Your own memory.
Start with a handful of cards or take on the full deck. Learn the sequence, recall it in order, and find a pace that works for you.
What the research can say
Give each card a familiar image or place it along an imagined route. Keep the route consistent and practise a small part of the deck first. The cards are drawn here, with no downloaded deck artwork.
Dresler and colleagues (2017) found that six weeks of method-of-loci training improved recall of studied word lists. That study did not test this trainer or establish a rise in IQ or general memory.
A review by Simons and colleagues (2016) found much stronger evidence for improvement on trained tasks than for broad transfer. These tools are practice activities, not diagnostic tests or medical advice.
A few useful answers
Is every part free?
Yes. Every level, the image list, history and backups are free, without signup or ads.
Where is my progress saved?
Only in this browser’s local storage. Practice answers and mnemonic notes are not uploaded. Export and import a JSON backup to move your data.
Will this improve my IQ or general memory?
We do not make that claim. Better performance here mainly tells you about this practised skill, with these settings.
How are cards scored?
A card counts only when both its rank and suit match the shown card at the same position. Skipped positions count as misses.
