Whenever you’re ready

5:00

Wake lock is released when you pause or finish.

Choose a rhythm

A comfortable inhale, a small second sip of air, then a longer, easy exhale. This fixed pace is a guide, not an exact trial protocol.

Duration

Vibration is available in some mobile browsers; unsupported devices stay silent.

Whenever you’re ready

5:00

Stop if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable. Breathe normally again. No breath-hold challenges. This is not treatment.

Once this page has loaded, the pacer, timer and bells work offline in this tab. Reloading or opening another page needs a connection.

The timer uses elapsed time. Background tabs can delay sounds; keep the tab visible for cues.

Your session log

Notes and daily logs stay on this browser. Clear them whenever you like. No goals, streaks or share prompts.

No sessions saved. There is nothing to catch up on.

A little evidence. Some limits.

Goyal and colleagues (2014) reviewed 47 randomised trials with 3,515 people. They found moderate evidence for reduced anxiety (effect size 0.38 at eight weeks) and depression (0.30), but low or insufficient evidence for attention, sleep and positive mood. These were programmes, not a test of this timer.

Goyal et al., JAMA Internal Medicine (2014)

In one month-long trial, Balban and colleagues (2023) found that five minutes a day of cyclic sighing improved positive mood more than mindfulness meditation. There was no significant change in heart-rate variability or trait anxiety. One trial is a reason for curiosity, not a promise.
